I am new to doing reviews and when I saw I had a chance to read Max Lucado's newest book "Max on Life" I was thrilled. I have to say that I am a Max Lucado fan and love his books and the way he presents his ideas of the ways of God in layman's terms without making you feel condescended to.
In this book he takes time to answer questions he has received over thirty years of ministry from concerned Christians, struggling Christians and new Christians. Questions of doubt, pain or just plain curiosity. Questions that I have struggled with myself. Questions such as: When I doubt God does He leave me?, Does God really forgive me?, Why does God heal some and not others?, What will happen on judgement day?. He answers these questions with scripture and insight that God has given to him.
They are separated into the seven sections in this book. They are grouped according to questions on God, calamities, prayer, relationships, families, work/money, and the hereafter. They are easy to understand answers that are very open and practical. They can be challenging and comforting. I found his answers were thoughts I had already had but just wasn't sure. There were a few that made me think "I never thought of that." Or "I wish I had that answer when someone asked me that same question."
This book kept me reading, just wondering how he would answer the next question. Some answers convicted me and some comforted me. The scriptures presented were comforting as well. They affirmed what he was saying. I would definitely recommend this book to others. For those who have questions about God. For those with unsaved friends and family who don't know how to answer the questions posed to them.
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com <http://BookSneeze®.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review.
you are so much better with words than I am. I review them but I am not really good at it :)
